Murra Pathways recently held its inaugural employment-focused workshop at Palm Beach Currumbin High School, bringing together 30 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls for an enriching experience. The event, bolstered by the support of prominent employers Fulton Hogan, Woolworths, and Big W, provided the students with invaluable insights into various career paths within these organizations. Through interactive and hands-on activities, the students gained a genuine understanding of what it's like to work with leading national employers.
Trish Borg, PBC Indigenous Programs Manager, highlighted the event's success, stating, “The inclusivity and engagement were outstanding. The students felt valued and comfortable, which fostered open dialogue with the employers.” Year 11 students Shaliyah and Izzy echoed these sentiments, sharing, “We now realize that there are career opportunities in every part of these businesses. The activities were engaging and enjoyable, making the experience truly memorable.”
Murra Pathways is dedicated to continuing its support for both students and employers. Future workshops and employment opportunities will build on this success, further enhancing engagement and development for all involved.
