2025 Murra Pathways Career Expos - Bond university

Wow - what a day!

A huge thank you to our incredible partner employers and schools for making our Careers and Connection Expo such a success.

  • Over 100 First Nations students from a dozen schools attended and began their journey toward long-term, meaningful employment.

  • EOIs full, new relationships built, genuine connections made and plenty of fun along the way!

We are so grateful to our employer partners who continue to create supportive and culturally safe experiences for young people, opening doors to a wide range of positive career options for both male and female First Nations students. From retail and construction through to aviation, higher education, defence and beyond, the pathways on offer are inspiring the next generation to dream big and take their next steps with confidence.

We’re so excited about what’s ahead and the opportunities this momentum will create for our young people.

Coombabah state high school

In 2025, Murra Pathways delivered a First Nations Career Expo at Coombabah State High School, creating meaningful, real-world connections for students directly within their school environment.

The event engaged 60+ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander male and female students, bringing together 10 employer partners across industries including retail, construction, energy, aviation, defence and related sectors. Rather than focusing on theory, the expo centred on practical conversations, what jobs actually look like, how to get started, and the different pathways available straight from school.

Students explored opportunities ranging from work experience and part-time employment through to school-based apprenticeships, trade pathways, further training and university options. Employers shared honest insights into their industries, entry points and the skills they look for, helping students build confidence and clarity around their next steps.

The Coombabah expo reinforced the value of delivering career engagement on school grounds, where students feel comfortable, supported and empowered to ask questions, turning curiosity into real opportunities and momentum beyond the classroom.

men of business academy

Murra Pathways delivered a focused First Nations Career Expo at Men of Business Academy in 2025, designed specifically to support young men at a critical transition point between school and employment.

The event engaged 50+ male students aged 16–18, creating a highly motivated environment where students were ready to explore what comes next beyond the classroom. Employers and training providers worked closely with students to discuss real opportunities, entry requirements and practical next steps.

The impact was immediate. Dozens of students secured part-time employment, while many others moved into training, further education and structured pathways aligned with their interests and strengths. Conversations focused on action, how to apply, where to start, and what support is available, giving students clarity and confidence to move forward.

The Men of Business Academy expo highlighted the power of targeted, age-specific engagement, showing how the right setting and partnerships can translate aspiration into tangible outcomes for students.

palm beach currumbin state high school

In 2025, Murra Pathways delivered a tailored First Nations girls’ Career Expo at Palm Beach Currumbin State High School, creating a culturally safe and empowering space for young women to explore future pathways.

The event engaged 50+ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander female students, with strong participation from employer partners across multiple industries. What made this expo particularly meaningful was the presence of family and community connections within the room, with several employers sharing existing relationships with students and their families. This created an environment of trust, pride and genuine encouragement.

Students were highly engaged throughout the day, asking questions, making connections and exploring options across part-time employment, training and further education pathways. The impact was immediate, with many students commencing part-time roles and entering training pathways following the event.

The Palm Beach Currumbin expo demonstrated the strength of community-connected career engagement, where representation and relationships play a powerful role in turning opportunity into action.

stuartholme school

Murra Pathways delivered a tailored First Nations girls’ Career Expo at the impressive venue of Stuartholme School in 2025, bringing together Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander female students from multiple Brisbane-based private schools.

Many of the students originate from regional and remote communities across Australia and openly shared concerns about future employment, training and education opportunities should they choose to return home after school. The expo created a safe and supportive space for these conversations, acknowledging the complexity of decision-making faced by young people navigating life beyond boarding school.

Working closely with our national employer partners, Murra Pathways engaged students in meaningful, practical discussions about the breadth of opportunities available across the country, including roles, training pathways and long-term careers that can be accessed both in metropolitan centres and regional locations.

The Stuartholme expo highlighted the importance of nationally connected career pathways, empowering students with clarity, confidence and options, wherever their future may lead.
